Mysore-Style
Mysore is a self-paced class allowing students to receive individual instruction in a group setting and is open to all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. In the beginning, new students receive more attention, and as they become familiar with the practice, they gain more independence, and the teacher is present to offer adjustments and assistance only when needed.
Half Primary
This guided Half Primary series walks students through the first 24 postures of Primary Series, including standing postures, balancing postures, forward bends, twists, and backbends. Detailed instruction and modifications are provided. This class is a perfect introduction for new students.
Led Full Primary
Students will be guided through all 48 poses of the Primary series with instruction provided on proper breathing, gazing, and vinyasa transitions. The class is led using the traditional Sanskrit counting method. Led Full Primary is most suitable for regular Ashtanga Yoga practitioners or students with some yoga experience.
Half Intermediate
In this class you'll practice Intermediate Series up to Eka Pada Sirsasana (Leg Behind the Head Pose). Unlike the traditional led classes, we'll spend time looking at each pose and exploring various techniques to approach them safely and effectively, which makes this class suitable for many levels of students. Some yoga experience is suggested and the class is not recommended for students with limiting injuries.
Chanting & Chai
Offered the first Saturday of every month. Share space with the AYL community through exploring this important yogic practice while sipping homemade chai. No experience required. Bring something comfortable to sit on, and chant along or just listen. Cash or Venmo donations are encouraged and all money raised goes directly to the AYL tuition assistance fund.
Coffee, Donuts & Conference
Offered the last Sunday or every month, this is our take on the traditional conference given at the Shala in Mysore, India. Questions are welcome, but consider this an opportunity to discuss whatever yoga topics come up with fellow community members. Coffee and donuts (or other breakfast pastries!) are provided. No registration required and all are welcome.
